dustin got his first gobbler (adult male turkey) this past weekend. pretty nice one. im glad he stopped by my house afterward cause his camera didnt take any pics, so i was able to take a few.
daylight savings time is near which means two things, i'll probably be an hour late to church, and my thursday night bass tournaments start up. this is a picture of my partner in bass catchn' greatness, vince strawbridge. two more weeks and i can hardly control myself. ive been looking forward to this for six months. breath deep, kirbyson. gonna be big money this year! all other rednecks beware.
in florida we have 3 kinds of gators, ones that eat fish, ones that eat dogs and ones that eat men. most people think this is a very large gator but this is actually a dog eater. ive seen gators that r 4 times the size of this in lake kissimmee. they scare me! i love florida and i even love gators, but they scare me.
a good friend of mine, jerah, wanted to see some more pics of fern. so, here you are jerah. I shot all of these “from the hip,” which means without looking through the lens. you can see that shes not very happy when i start shooting and then she starts to ham it up for the camera. i posted them small but if u want to see them larger you can click the image.
while fishing this weekend we saw a lot of snakes. Its spawn time so we were flipping which means the boat is up in the weeds and when it gets hot the snakes come out to sun. this one is a harmless water snake. you can tell by the eyes and the head. most water snakes have bands around their bodies like a moccasin so dont go by that. most of the time when people see a water snake they automatically assume its a moccasin and kill it. im a big fan of snakes so i dont even kill moccasins but i understand why others do but please leave the banded, brown and green water snakes alone. They r very friendly and only help.
ryan with a nice trout on one of our trips to mosquito lagoon. we caught a lot of nice trout this trip, too bad they were out of season. nothing beats eating fish, u caught yourself, that was swimming a few hours before. trout’s a tasty gill critter. ryan tells me he checks the blog but never posts. im not so sure i believe him but heres your chance ry-dog.
thats not me. actually i dont even know these people. my brother sent me the pic. that is a gigantic gator gar. ive seen some big ones before but never one that big. too bad they killed it but i guess there is no "catch and release" with compound bows!
if youre born into the kirby family, youre born a fisherman. like ive said before, ive been fishing since i could walk. since before i could talk. its a huge part of my life. from left to right: cannon(me), mason, dustin, connor and addie. from when my brother and i took his two sons fishing last month and they schooled us.
my brother dustin and his son mason fishing from the beach on little gasparilla island. we use to vacation there every summer. its one of my favorite places to fish for redfish. off the beach at night we catch whiting, redfish, snook, sea trout, jacks and sharks . wish i was there right now!!!
