tarpon from the shore

a tarpon my dad landed back when we use to live on pompano beach. he caught it on 17lb test and a spinning reel. i helped by going and getting a drunk guy from the tiki bar to help land the fish.

the disappearing lake

if you’ve been watching the news lately you’ve seen that scott lake has been draining into a sink hole. we went down there this morning to save a few fish and check out the disaster area. its crazy to see a 500 acre lake that you’ve spent your whole life on swimming, skiing and fishing just disappear into the earth. i’ve never seen anything like it before. the pictures don’t really give you the full effect but I thought you might want to see.

we saved about 60-70 fish and transferred them to shady lake lane. a mix bag of bass, speck, catfish, bluegill and other panfish. more pics from the beach to come…

tropical storm code red

one of the redfish we caught this past week during the tropical storm. this was the day before the storm came through our area but we actually caught more reds during the storm. notice the full rain gear. we were the only ones on the water. it was nice having "catfish creek" all to ourselves. against the mangroves was the only calm water the rest was white caps. this red measured 30 inches which is to large to keep so she was released and is swimming out there on the flats looking for shrimp. more fishing pics to come!

duck boat

hopefully we will be hunting out of this new boat come september. well that is if dustin gets on the ball and buys us one. hehe! it would be really nice to hunt out of a true duck boat with true camo. cross your fingers and say your prayers and just maybe...

ol' hitler

the world record (all tackle) hammerhead shark was caught down in boca grande this past week. 14ft 3in long and 1280 lbs. it crushes the past record of 991 lbs caught in sarasota back in 1982. the shark dragged the boat 12 miles off shore. ive been trying to tell my friends and family maybe they should think twice about swimming off the gulf but no they dont listen to me. "there arent any real big sharks out there" well go ahead and take a look at this big guy. could it be the mythical "old hitler." somehow i dont think so since that myth was started back in like the 60's.

big ass bass

dustin with a big 8 lb bass he caught yesterday on lake alfred while we were prefishing a tourney. one of the biggest looking 8 pounders ive ever seen. i thought it would be more in the high nines. this bass had recently spawned which means that a couple of months ago this bass probably weighed 11 to 12 lbs. we let it go in shady lake.
