broadmoor blues

hunted broadmoor today with thay from the uwf site and a couple of his buddies. great guys and a great shoot. we had the last draw at broadmoor but still managed 1 bird shy of a 4 man limit. saw steve and beg there. they shot goodwin. had a lot of fun and met some new guys.

2 teaspoons dried sage
3 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/4 teaspoon dried marjoram
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1/8 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
1 pound ground pork
1 pound ground duck

as many of you, i have birds in the freezer from last season that are less than fresh and i need to make room for new birds. i decided this year to get a meat grinder and make some duck/pork sausage. i used mostly ringers but had some snipe and quail in the freezer too. it is delicious and wife and kid approved.

no camera lots of fog

got to the ramp this morning and realized i had forgotten my camera. bob called it right when he said "thats almost as bad as forgetting your gun." that set me on tilt from the get go. the fog was so thick that we barely found our spot. the fog didnt lift until around 10 am. we ended the day with 1 hen teal (bob) and two drake ringers (me). i took some pics with my phone.

two wigeon and a handful of snipe

quackbob and i went out yesterday morning. didnt see many ducks. we shot two wigeon. only 5 birds total checked at the station including our two. skipped over to another lake to try and push a few snipe. we ended up with a handful. not a ton of action but a great day nonetheless

thanksgiving duck 09

went out this morning for my annual thanksgiving hunt. thought it was going to be a skunkaroo on my first day out of the regular season but right at the last min. this bluebill hen came into the spread. despite the lack of ducks it was a beautiful morning. happy thanksgiving!

took the girls out bluegill fishing today in the neighborhood that i grew up in. we had a great time. they caught a mess of fish that they wanted to eat so i cleaned em up and took em back home to pair with some quail i had in the freezer. nothing special, just pan fried like gram used to make when i was their age. the snake egg came home as well. we will keep it to see what hatches, something else i used to do when i was young.

1st on toho

fished a central florida bassmaster tournament and took 1st place honors with 25.5 pounds. missed big bass by 6 ounces. heres a pic of the two 7 pounders i had.
